Dr. Ingrid Feder Sidibeh, President & CEO / Excecutive Board of Directors Dr. Ingrid Feder Sidibeh, President & CEO / Excecutive Board of Directors – Dr. Feder Sidibeh was born and raised in Germany and received her medical education in New York. She is licensed to practice medicine in Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Montana and the Gambia and has served as Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, her alma mater, educating medical students and resident physicians. Additionally, she is board-certified in Family Medicine and is a Diplomate as well as a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Medicine
Dawda Sidibeh, Vice President & CFO / Executive Board of Directors Dawda Sidibeh, Vice President & CFO / Executive Board of Directors – Mr. Sidibeh was born and raised in the Gambia and has been living and working in Connecticut since 1998. However, his love for the Gambia and its people is undiminished. Healing Hands of Gambia was originally his brain child, based on too many untimely and preventable deaths amongst friends and loved ones in the Gambia.
Ida Amaral, Secretary & Treasurer / Executive Board of Directors Ida Amaral, Secretary & Treasurer / Executive Board of Directors – Ms. Amaral has been involved with Healing Hands of Gambia since its inception. She has traveled to the Gambia several times, experiencing first-hand the plight of the people. A long-time public servant at the Social Security Administration in Rhode Island, Ms. Amaral brings with her invaluable organizational and management skills.
Beate Langer, Executive Board of Directors – Ms. Langer has been born and raised in Germany, where she still resides. She has studied Chemistry and has lived and worked in France for several years. Currently, she holds a management position with a prestigious German pharmaceutical distributor and serves as our Director of Pharmaceutical Procurement. Additionally, she is the Director of our German subsidiary, which is due to be registered by the German government in the near future.
Patricia Silverstein, Executive Board of Directors Patricia Silverstein, Executive Board of Directors – Ms. Silverstein currently resides in Nevada and holds multiple certificates in education. She brings to us extensive fundraising experience and serves as our Strategic Development Consultant. Additionally, she functions as the Chairperson of our Education Committee as well as the Chairperson of our Strategic Development Committee.
Dr. Aida Becker, General Board of Directors Dr. Aida Becker, General Board of Directors – Dr. Becker is board-certified in Family Medicine and licensed to practice in New York and the Gambia. She resides in Long Island, New York, where she has founded “Retro Medicine,” which provides home visits to elderly and home-bound patients in the greater Huntington area. Dr. Becker was Dr. Feder Sidibeh’s senior resident at the Family Medicine Residency Program at the University Hospital at Stony Brook many years ago, when they forged a lasting friendship. Dr. Becker has worked with Dr. Feder Sidibeh at the Jammeh Foundation for Peace Hospital in Serekunda and has participated in lectures at the University of the Gambia, School of Medicine.
Buba Ceesay, General Board of Director Buba Ceesay, General Board of Directors – Mr. Ceesay resides in Serekunda, the Gambia, and is a Senior Customs Officer for the Customs and Excise Department, Republic of the Gambia. His main functions are Customs Management as well as Inter-African Commerce.
Carl Evans, General Board of Directors Carl Evans, General Board of Directors – Mr. Evans resides in Leeds, England, where he practices Optometry. He is a Member of the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health and is dedicated to international health concerns on many levels, including frequently neglected mental health issues. Moreover, he is an avid and extensive traveler and has been to the Gambia several times. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Leeds and, as such, has been instrumental in raising awareness regarding the needs of the Gambian people.
Tian Giri, General Board of Directors Tian Giri, General Board of Directors – Ms. Giri resides in in Florida and holds a managerial position within a leading real estate firm. She is originally from New London, Connecticut, and, in the past, has been well-known in the modeling and acting fields. She has extensive contacts as well as a vast network of prominent acquaintances and is an invaluable asset to us in her function as Fundraising Associate and Liaison.
João Leitão, Advisory Board João Leitão, Advisory Board – Mr. Leitão is a visual artist who currently resides and works in Erfoud, South East Morocco. Originally from Portugal, he has travelled to more than 70 countries and territories and has photo/video documented many cultures. In the future João will be our West-Africa correspondent and part-time Gambia helper.
Elaine Morrissette, General Board of Directors Elaine Morrissette, General Board of Directors – Ms. Morrissette is an experienced and dedicated nurse who has worked closely with Dr. Feder Sidibeh for many years. She serves as our General Nurse Manager and oversees the credentialing and training of the entire nursing staff. Additionally, she is in charge of supplies management as well as the development of our medical assistant training and education program.
Jacob Morrissette, General Board of Directors Jacob Morrissette, General Board of Directors – Mr. Morrissette resides in Connecticut and has a long-standing interest in cultural exchange and understanding . A disciplined athlete, he is the champion of people with disabilities who, thus far, in Africa have not received the opportunities they deserve. He is currently in the process of formulating programs within our mission which are designed to incorporate this long-forgotten population.
Dr. Monica Villegas, General Board of Directors Dr. Monica Villegas, General Board of Directors – Dr. Villegas has graduated from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York, and has completed her residency in family medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, New York, where she also served as Chief Resident. She is board certified in Family Medicine and is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Family Medicine. Additionally, she is a member of the Hispanic Alliance of New London, Connecticut, and is active in community eduation and health management.
